  • Artist in Residence

On Tuesday March 21, 2017 we will begin our Artist-in-Residence program. This year our Artist-in-Residence is Sumayya Diop. Sumayya has been dancing, drumming, and singing with youth, young adults, and adults in the Seattle area for more than 10 years. Trained by the "Jali" (traditional storytellers) in African dance, Sumayya brings a wealth of knowledge, experience, and skill to teaching.
  • Alexandra and the Dragon

We kicked this week off with a fantastic performance entitled, Alexandra and the Dragon, performed by Taproot Theater Company. Thank you to the PTA for helping us bring this play to McDonald International. Alexandra and the Dragon is the story of a 5th grader who learns the importance of being a positive bystander and sticking up for a new student at her school who is being bullied. During the performance, Alexandra (and the McDonald students) learned the 3 R’s: Recognizing, Reporting and Refusing Bullying. This weekend I encourage you to ask your child(ren) about the play and the 3 R’s.
