Welcome to the McDonald Library! As library teacher, I see my role, first and foremost, as connecting kids with books, but also as fostering a child’s imagination and curiosity. I believe these two goals work hand in hand. The library, ideally, is a space of active learning, where books, technology, resources and artifacts stimulate the imagination—where students learn by doing and discovering.
As Seattle School District families, you have free access to our online Children's Encyclopedias and database. The login is studentsps. The password is access. Click on the Online Student Resource link in the blue box on the right and start exploring.
It takes a community to staff a library! There are many opportunities to choose from:
- Shelving Materials (a nice zen activity and you get to see what books are available.)
- Processing Books
- General tidying
- Helping out with book circulation
I will be setting up a training session for book covering after school starts. If you are a person who likes working with your hands, maybe a bit on the "crafty" side, I'd love to make use of your talents in this area. Email me at email@example.com
I'd like to start a collection of games and puzzles for students to use in the library during recess or free time. If you have any games and puzzles (all pieces complete, please!) you no longer want, perhaps they can find a new home in the McDonald Library.
