Nurse: All Seattle Public School students are served by Student Health Services. McDonald International School (MIS) will have a nurse at school Mondays and Thursdays. The nurse’s role is to assure required screenings, immunization compliance, development of individual health plans (IHPs), and to train school staff on the essential individual needs of students with chronic health conditions. The Nurse supports a positive safe school climate, assists the team in disability accommodations, provides direct nursing care, delegates safe oral medication administration, and participates in student health education.
Occupation and Physical Therapy: Physical and Occupational Therapy services are provided to those students found eligible for specially designed instruction in the area of motor development. This includes students at McDonald as well as students attending nearby private schools.
Special Education: We have a full time Special Education teacher and a .8 Special Education Teacher. Both staff members work with individual students in the classroom, as well as small groups in our Resource Rooms.
